Role purpose
Our Global Communications team is a vibrant and effervescent team that comprises all corporate communications across our organisation. Through our team of internal communicators, PR Manager, Community Director, Brand and Digital Specialists, we tell Tate & Lyle’s story. Using our collective skills, we communicate our purpose and strategy to a wide and diverse global audience internally and externally using a broad range of channels.
In your role, you will deliver internal communications, provide leadership and support for a variety of departments across our business including the IS/IT function. With an exciting and innovative technology roadmap to deliver, this function will enable better ways of working for all employees and allow us to take our innovation to the next level. Your key stakeholders are the leaders of the business and they are looking for someone who can help them lead through strong communications and through enhancing the visibility of their area. In addition to C-suite support, you’ll partner with internal stakeholders globally to create and deliver internal communications.
You will have the opportunity to shape the communications strategy and plan as well as build the narrative for specific business functions. You will use your storytelling experience to engage the business, highlighting the crucial work these departments perform. In turn, this helps us deliver our corporate strategy and vision to continue to be a leading global food and beverage ingredients solutions partner.

By forging and maintaining relationships with colleagues across the business globally, you will identify and develop news stories that can be shared internally and externally (in collaboration with our PR Manager for external opportunities).
Main accountabilities
• Design and lead the functional specific internal communications strategy and plan to effectively tell the story and build the functions reputation across the Group globally
• Ensure the functional specific internal communications strategy is aligned with the global communications strategy
• Create and deliver the communications plan, activities and programmes e.g.:
o Create engaging and impactful core messages and content, ensuring consistency with corporate messaging, for various internal channels
o Ensure timely and informative communications
o Identify the communication channel(s) to use (Intranet, Yammer, newsletter, townhalls, etc.)
o Gather stories for and write the monthly newsletter (functional specific)
o Contribute to the agenda of monthly / quarterly team meetings
o Regularly and continuously update functional specific pages on the Intranet and build engagement with functional specific Yammer
o Manage the production of internal videos promoting functional specific activities / people
o Identify and support the creation of content for external digital platforms (Website, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube etc.)
• Write and edit presentations, speeches and other materials to support our leaders
• Proactively collaborate with the business unit’s team to identify opportunities such as site visits, group calls, town halls etc. at which the leaders should speak
• Liaise with the site / group to understand key messages and factor them into presentations and scripts for the leaders
• Accurately maintain an overview of communications requirements for existing and future projects and programmes for your dedicated business units
• Provide communications related to global projects and programmes
• Act as the expert adviser and quality assurance for communications coming out of the functions
• Day to day alignment with other communications, change management and project / programme related staff in the business
• Consider and test new ways of delivering effective internal communications
• Monitor and measure the impact of the internal communications to advance the comms plan
• Proactively identify potential external media stories / opportunities and work with the Corporate PR Manager to deliver them
• Ad hoc duties and projects as required
Skills and experience required
• Good track record performing well in an internal communications role creating content for global consumption in a global HQ
• Practical experience using various internal communications methods / channels – up to date with industry trends
• Proven experience producing high quality, engaging, accurate copy for a variety of global internal audiences using a range of internal comms channels
• Experience translating complex terminology to mainstream audiences
• Enthusiastic, engaging and experienced communicator, with experience leading multiple projects; planning, prioritising and delivering successfully to multiple deadlines
• First class communication skills (written, verbal, visual, engaging presenter)
• Proactive and inquisitive with the ability to spot a good story and identify good opportunities
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish a rapport and effectively influence others
• An eye for accuracy and detail
• Uses sound judgement
• Advanced project management skills
• Advanced MS Office skills, especially PowerPoint
• Basic video editing skills desirable
• Knowledge of the food manufacturing industry and the food market desirable
• Previous experience in a B2B company desirable
• Relevant qualification in Communications, PR or equivalent course or experience
• Ability to look for creative and original solutions to support communications objectives
• Ability to work independently as well as to take direction and listen to others
• Ability to quickly create professional relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
• Ability to question stakeholders to clearly understand their requirements and objectives
• Partner with key stakeholders to ensure communications meet business objectives
