Role purpose 

Lead and drive improvements in the demand planning process for our Speciality Food Ingredients (SFI) business in EMEA by working collaboratively with sales, product management, finance, senior management and the S&OP team. You will be responsible for delivering an accurate volume forecast each month that can be used for both financial and production planning as well as to provide support to the senior management team in making effective decisions for the business.



Main accountabilities

• Lead the demand review consensus process for EMEA

• Analyse trends which you will use to drive improvements in forecast accuracy and forecast bias

• Document assumptions related to major changes of forecast

• Successfully collaborate with supply planning to ensure best quality demand signal is sent to production plants on a monthly basis

• Support sales, new product launch and product management teams in reporting the monthly forecast by plant, customer, stock keeping unit (SKU) to maximise profit

• Interface with supply planning / sales and product managers to manage product allocations 

• Maintain a detailed knowledge of sales strategies and initiatives including gaps and opportunities between latest forecast and annual operating plans and use this information to optimise planning

• Schedule and lead regular stakeholder meetings to optimise sales opportunities for  SFI

• Lead and continue to improve Demand Planning group capabilities and processes that help drive high performance and growth

• Track weekly / monthly forecast error results versus established targets; identify, report and present root cause analysis related to forecast errors below targets

• Play a lead role in the annual planning process across the S&OP planning team; Ensure this process is linked to the monthly volume forecast as part of financial forecasting process

• Collaborate cross functionally to determine optimal SKU assortment that achieves margin, revenue, and optimal sales opportunities. Work with supply planning and finance teams to simulate ‘what-if’ scenarios

• Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects

• Adhere to the safety policies, procedures and site rules 

• Fully participate in the safety programme, including reporting any incidents or near misses and auditing

• Up to 20% travel across Europe, potentially globally



Skills and experience required  



• Strong track record leading others through influence

• Experience in S&OP processes and procedures, customer planning and / or supply planning

• Expert in leading and designing S&OP processes

• Able to provide evidence of creating accurate and detailed statistical forecasting, business forecasting and communication to large teams and senior management

• SAP APO DP user or superuser 

• Strong track record of building and maintaining effective and trusting relationships



• Strong analytical skillsets 

• First class communication skills, both oral and written

• Easily able to see the big picture; to think conceptually and strategically, yet able to deliver concrete results

• Driven and self-motivated, and confident leading change

• Credibility and gravitas – able to challenge stakeholders at all levels in an appropriate and convincing tone



• Relevant degree or equivalent  in a business / logistics fields
