ROLE PURPOSE: 

The Regional Category Manager is a leadership role under the direction of the Global Category Manager – MRO/CAPEX that has responsibility for globally and strategically sourcing Maintenance, Repair, and Operating supplies, either via regional/global distribution or directly from the OEM. The Regional Category Manager will work with internal stakeholders to develop, implement and execute global and/or regional procurement strategies. Through excellent leadership and communications skills, the Regional Category Manager will ensure cross-functional business objectives are reflected in global category strategies. This role will strategically manage global and regional supplier spend to identify opportunities that drive sustainable improvement in cost, quality, service and innovation.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Identify opportunities to consolidate spend to reduce the number of regional suppliers and to move spend to suppliers who support achievement of Global Procurement KPIs.
  • Conduct RFQs, fact-finding, negotiations, and contract development to support achievement of Global Procurement targets and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with internal customers and stakeholders in developing and executing sourcing strategies that align with regional objectives to deliver value to the business by improving quality and service, mitigating supply risks, reducing total costs, and focusing on continuous improvement through supplier management activities.
  • Work collaboratively with operations and finance teams to support the development of strategic sourcing opportunities.
  • Provide regular and appropriate category communications to stakeholders to ensure the business has an understanding of industry best practices, trends and category knowledge.
  • Present strategies and market trends at periodic business reviews with cross functional leaders, especially with global operations’ plant operations, reliability, maintenance, process engineering and other cross functional teams.
  • Develop influential and positive stakeholder relationships to ensure regional and global category compliance which includes establishing and leading cross functional category sourcing teams.
  • Manage MRO spend for OEM parts, industrial supplies, automation and instrumentation, power transmission and electrical components and equipment in an industrial environment.
  • Lead supplier relationship management activities that drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by partnering with key business stakeholders to develop and track supplier Key Performance Indicators.
  • Analyse markets, regulations and trends including economic and geopolitical influences in markets where Tate & Lyle operates.
  • Support global and regional forecasting and budget planning and reporting activities.
  • Ensure robust commercial arrangements meet applicable business, legal, sustainability and ethical requirements.
  • A role model both within the organisation and the wider market creates a culture of honesty, integrity and trust.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

The person is a self-starter with a proven track record in Strategic Procurement and Category Management in blue chip companies, preferably in an industrial environment. With experience in building mutual relationships with key suppliers, this person will effectively establish relationships with business leaders, matching innovative solutions to meet their needs.  Their experience will have been gained ideally in a fast paced, dynamic industry where the emphasis is on relationships, solution benefit, meeting challenging targets and delivering business needs.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: 

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required- Economics/Engineering/Business
  • Ability to communicate throughout all levels of the organization
  • Strong negotiations skills
  • 5+ years of experience managing categories for an industrial company, preferably MRO.
  • Experience managing a spend portfolio of $75M+
  • Experience in a multi-national organization is preferred
  • Ability to develop and execute of a comprehensive category strategy
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations, finance and procurement teams to identify and implement strategic sourcing opportunities
  • Experience in global and regional markets; Understanding of market trends and effect on category and business
  • Knowledge of the strategic sourcing process and practical application to sourcing projects with a history of achieving YOY savings
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Proficient in using technology and tools, including SAP and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Take ownership and support/drive Tate & Lyle safety culture

     

LOCATION: 

  • Decatur, IL and Lafayette, IN preferred but open to other Tate & Lyle manufacturing locations
