Production Planning Manager

This role oversees the Production Planning team for Tate & Lyle’s North American production facilities and reports to the VP, Supply Chain NOAM.  This entails the oversight of and coordination of operations, planning and warehousing.  Direct the planning team to execute the plans developed in the S & OP process.  Raise concerns and highlight potential issues. Follow the escalation process and provide options and solutions where needed.  Coordinate and work with production facilities to ensure manufacturing plans are in sync with customer needs and inventory requirements.  Lead weekly calls to provide a central check in of priorities and a structured communication plan.

Relationship management

Create a collaborative environment which is conducive to the exchange of information.  Encourage team to interact and communicate with other teams within the company:  Sales, Product Management, Logistics, Operations, ICD, S & OP.  Promote cross-functional teams to solution issues and generate and deliver opportunities.

Lead the continuous improvement mindset for the planning and all teams.  Continue to bring forward improvement processes and changes that streamline operations and provide T & L a competitive edge.

Be a supply chain leader who guides and provides strategic direction to the team as well as sales, product management and operations.  Provide suggestions and ideas that make us an easy supplier to do business with which adds revenue to the bottom line.

Provide leadership and representation in the QMM process.  Provide guidance and relevant data for decision making in this process.  Be an active participant and provide leadership direction in the QMM process.  Bring logistics and costing information forward so that sound decisions can be made.  Provide relevant data and serve as a gatekeeper in the process.  Where appropriate, delegate to staff product duties and collection of data.

As a primary production region, orchestrate short-term availability with all regions based upon    S & OP forecasts and direction.   Educate and inform the global operations teams of operational issues and constraints.

Act as a key partner with ICD to help bring new products to market. Coach and guide the team to remove bottlenecks.  Continually improve the innovation process and intensify our agility to commercialize more quickly. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact with other regions to manage global supply plans
  • Support the import of materials from other regions to ensure adequate inventory
  • Oversee the set up of material master for finished goods
  • Support the allocation process when inventory does not meet customer demand
  • Develop recommendations through scenario modeling to resolve short term conflicts in supply and demand
  • Pro-actively communicate supply chain challenges and constraints to all global regions




Provide direction to the planning team to –

  • Manage production plans and inventory targets to ensure proper product skus are available to meet customer demand.
  • Work with operations in development of short-term plans to guarantee sku level product availability to meet Perfectly Executed Order targets.
  • Work with S & OP team to understand forecasted needs and deviations from forecasts.
  • In conjunction with finance and quality, aid in compilation of blocked inventory stocks.  Responsible for making inventory adjustments. 
  • Replenish warehouse and station inventories to maintain supply needed. 
  • Ensure proper, timely inventory adjustments and reconciliations are complete.  Documentation to be maintained according to retention policies.
  • Oversee the replenishment of resale products from other regions.  Ensure that the importation process is streamlined.  Make sure inventory replenishment is timely and inventory levels are sufficient and consider requirements of the longer transit supply chain, 
  • Coordinate the purchase of product from resale from competitors.
  • Oversee and manage the toll manufacturing process.  Direct the team to produce product in a timely manner as needed to fulfill customer needs and maintain proper inventory levels of products manufactured by third parties. 
  • Manage the FATP process on new orders

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or related field;
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in supply chain
  • Demonstrated ability  providing data-driven analysis
  • Demonstrated ability working with large data sets with Excel, Access etc.
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated coaching and people management skills
  • Ability to work and lead cross-functional teams
  • Ability to create and adhere to process and plan
  • Ability to solve problems in an effective and efficient manner
